STORAGE CHOKES
General Properties :
Storage Chokes which are used for the energy storage in SMPS’, are produced by making a single winding on an iron-powder core.
Since the inductance will be decreased within the current increases, the operation value is accepted as the 60-75% of the inductance with no load.

Important point is that, since the direction of the load current changes, there will be some losses that we call eddy-current so the core can be overheated, hence the type of the core must be specially chosen for the specific switching frequency in order to prevent the current ripple increasements.
Areas of Application:
These kind of chokes help the output current in SMPS' kept stabilised.
